Strategic Asia is a private company with a public vision, which provides high end strategic policy, facilitation and advisory services. It aims to promote economic and strategic cooperation among key Asian countries: India, Indonesia, China, Korea and Japan among others. Our clients include governments, private businesses, civil society groups, international organisations and the media.
Strategic Asia is now looking for a Research Assistant (Politics & International Relations), who will assist Strategic Asia’s consultants in the production of the project’s outputs. Specifically, he/she will perform the following tasks:
- Assist SA’s consultants and BOD’s members in research tasks relating to SA’s political, and international relations portfolio, such as support for the writing of white papers and reports on in governance, democracy, social policy, and state-civil society relations.
- Provide analysis and data evaluation from news articles, working papers, and other necessary data.
- Conduct surveillance of recent international & domestic political as well as social economic issues.
- Undertake routine administrative tasks such as note taking, TOR writing, copy editing, etc.
- Participate as requested in internal and external events such as seminars, trainings, and necessary field trips.
- Undertake external communications and make new bussines contacts within the area of concern of SA
- Preparation of periodic progress reports.
- Maintain political and international relations database
- Undertake other tasks as requested by the Head of Research Dept of SA
Requirements
The Research Assistant is expected to have:
a) Undergraduate degree in politics, international relations, or other relevant social sciences.
b) Strong analytical thinking on economic, political and social issues surrounding Indonesia, India, and China
c) At least one year of experience in research, particularly academic research. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
d) Able to work in a team
e) Knowledge of historical, political, social and international relations issues
f) Familiarity with Indonesian data sources.
g) Ability to work under-pressure
h) Excellent oral & written English skills.
i) Understanding basic of statistics
